Exoticism & Romance for Two

Zanzibar - the name itself exudes exoticism and romance. The spacious and private bungalows with their lounge area, but especially the large terrace with hammock and private pool offer memories and dreamy hours for two. Hours that will be remembered forever.

Where Princess Salme once fell in love with her German merchant is a wonderful place to spend a honeymoon in the tradition of the Sultans of Oman.

The romantic story of Princess Salme

Princess Salme, born in 1844 as Salama bint Said Princess of Oman and Zanzibar and died as Emily Ruete, was the daughter of Sayyid Said, the then ruling Sultan of Oman and Zanzibar. In 1866 she met the German merchant Rudolph Heinrich Ruete from Hamburg. However, the relationship was a thorn in the side of the Sultan's family, and a wedding was unthinkable for religious reasons. To avoid being stoned to death in Zanzibar, Princess Salme, who was four months pregnant, fled on board a warship from Zanzibar to Yemen in 1866, where she married Rudolph Heinrich Ruete before they went to Germany in 1867.
