Trips & Activities

A stay at SeVi Boutique Hotel Zanzibar is tranquil and revitalizing, but never dull. There’s plenty to experience at the hotel and outside its grounds

Day trip to Stone Town

Some 55 km away from SeVi Boutique Hotel Zanzibar, the UNESCO-listed Stone Town – Mji Mkongwe – on the western coast of Unguja can be reached by car in about one and a half hours. It is a maze of narrow alleyways flanked by African, Arab, Persian, Indian, and even European architectural structures, most erected in reddish coral stone. Take your time to explore this old side of the capital of the island and to appreciate the intricate details of structural design and the rich carvings and bas-reliefs of the doors.

Scuba diving and snorkeling

You don’t have to scour the island to find scuba diving instructors. Dive Point PADI center from Matemwe with certified staff ready to organize memorable scuba and snorkeling trips for all skill levels. You can opt to explore the deep blue around the bay or to take a trip to Mnemba Island to observe the coral, the green turtles, and schools of dolphins.

Spice farm and Jozani Forest

The Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is about 70 kilometers from SeVi Boutique Hotel Zanzibar and can be reached in about one and a half hours by car. It is a protected area known for its endemic population of Zanzibar red colobus monkeys. There is an information center and a nature trail you can follow to experience other wonders of the rainforest. The area is also recommended for activities like birdwatching and nature walks.

A trip to Zanzibar is never complete without a visit of a spice farm – or a shamba – that’s why we recommend to visit one on the way to Jozani, there you can get familiar with growing and production techniques, as well as enjoy a spice smelling and tasting tour.
